Free Couscous!

This entry is actually kind of a culmination entry on one fun aspect of Paris- the free couscous!! I don't know if other cities do this, but in Paris a lot of bars serve free couscous on Friday and Saturday nights. And I don't mean just little bowls- these are actual plates of couscous, with zucchini/carrots/chickpeas/meat. I don't understand how the bars make a profit with this, but two french people tried to explain it to us last night- as one said, he usually comes with a big group of friends, they order a few bottles of wine, and spend about 50 euros. Apparently the couscous is untaxed, because it's technically a bar and not a restaurant, so it costs very little to prepare. Even so, it still seems expensive to me- these bars can get PACKED! But I'm not complaining... anyway, this was the third time I've gone (the second time with Laura) and I'm STILL impressed!
